Melissa Kirk in her article 10 Ways to Make Your Life More Playful has number of suggestions to do exactly that. Number 10 is: Dance. Do it alone, do it with friends, do it with strangers, but just dance. Any style, any place. You can’t dance while also being stressed and worried!
Dance is playful. Or at least it should be. Consider how children dance: joyfully and with abandon; not concerned with if they’re doing it right, whether or not they look silly. The only consideration is Fun. I personally take this to heart. I am an expert at dancing to the radio. I love to move to the groove. These days it’s not just to the radio anymore. I have Pandora on my smartphone. If a particularly juicy track comes along you might see me be-bopping down the sidewalk. Especially if it’s a gorgeous day.
Dance can be good for you physically, it can help you be present, it can help you inhabit your body, get out of your head, it’s a good form of self-expression, it’s a mood elevator. It’s also Fun. Most importantly it’s playful which is good for you; mind, body, and soul. So my peeps dance your hearts out and be alive.
Now you’ll have to excuse me, but a song by Metric is on the radio and I gotta dance.
Peace my friends
